Lunch time will provide an opportunity everyday for community members to sit and talk with students, building consistent relationships while helping children develop appropriate conversational skills. Lunch Buddy volunteers will be paired with an individual student so as to develop consistent relationships with concerned adults.

Every student learns differently. Understanding this means that instruction must be individualized to support each student’s success. In-class volunteer tutors will play a major part in serving Downtown Academy student.

Every school has many constantly moving parts. Whether it’s by helping with grant writing and development, assisting in the library, answering phones in the office, or planning for Teacher Appreciation events, volunteering helps grease the cogs at Downtown Academy.

Education is not confined to a school building. Volunteers can help augment at-home and day-long learning by becoming a Family Friend to one of our students’ parents.
While parenting is greatly rewarding, it offers many challenges which requires social support from others within our spheres of influence. Joining in our Mother’s Mornings provides a time of learning and relationship building that connects and strengthens our community.

Support the students and teachers at Downtown Academy by serving as a chaperone on our field trips, during recess or P.E., or at special events and assemblies. By volunteering as a chaperone you serve a meaningful role not just as a monitor but by getting to know and building relationships with our children.

The Grant Coordinator is on the cutting edge of development at Downtown Academy serving the students by ensuring greater opportunity for high academic achievement.
The goal of this position is to secure funds through grant opportunities that will fund various elements of the school’s budget. This individual is skilled in organization and administrative writing. This position works in conjunction with the Head of School to determine and evaluate grant opportunities to meet particular budgetary needs.

The Volunteer Coordinator serves as the necessary strategic link between the school and the community by connecting individual and grouped volunteers with potential areas of service within the school.
The goal of this position is to ensure volunteers recognize the importance of their roles in educating students at Downtown Academy. This individual is skilled in logistics and effectively communicating detailed information. This position works with the Head of School and Teachers by pinpointing volunteer opportunities and determining the volunteer to meet the associated need.

The Web Content Manager is the essential link that connects the world at large with the mission of Downtown Academy by clearly and efficiently capturing then communicating the activity of the school to the online community.
The goal of this position is to communicate the work of students, parents, staff, and volunteers at Downtown Academy through an active online presence. This individual has a passion for web technologies and social media and a high aesthetic aptitude. This position may work remotely and with the Head of School to promote Downtown Academy on the web.
