The Kindergarten Classroom Teacher At Downtown Academy …

  • prepares students at Downtown Academy with a rigorous and excellent Christ-centered education that instills in them the foundational knowledge and the character foundation to rightly pursue their purpose in glorifying God.

  • is responsible to instruct children at DtA with the provided curricula and learning objectives for kindergarten.

  • plans, prepares, and implements learning activities. Assess and reports learning growth to DtA administration and parents.

  • guides students towards a healthy relationship with Jesus Christ through instruction and demonstration of the love of God.

  • participates in all school and professional development sessions and activities as noted on the employee calendar.

  • communicates and engages well with children, parents, visitors, volunteers, and other staff.

  • reports for a minimum of 190 scheduled days of instruction, classroom preparation, and development.

  • is compensated with a salary based on years of experience and level of education.

  • qualifies for a benefits package including a health care stipend, 403(b) retirement savings matching, complementary life insurance, and more.

  • supports the school’s mission to provide and excellent and rigorous Christ-centered education to instill knowledge, build character, and clarify purpose of the children of Athens, Georgia.

  • is someone for whom grace, patience, compassion, and creativity are prominent characteristics.

  • is confident in not just their gifts and instructional skills, but in who they are as a child of God, and is thereby willing to grow and adapt right alongside the children in their class.

  • desires and is able to build relationships with academically, culturally, and economically diverse children so as to effectively educate resilient future men and women.

  • is willing to go above and beyond to support the children in their classroom, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

  • has earned, at minimum, a BA or BS from an accredited institution of higher learning.

  • preferably holds a teaching certificate or is willing to obtain licensure.
